Checkr Director, Assistant Controller at Checkr leading corporate accounting including close, financial reporting, and technical accounting. Own accounting policies, drive close process improvements, and partner on ERP optimization and external audits.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing team across GL accounting, treasury, and technical accounting.
Design, implement and maintain appropriate accounting policies and processes to enable accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP.
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, driving timeline reductions and establishing the controls and reconciliation standards expected of a public company.
Serve as the in-house US GAAP technical accounting expert.
Partner with Corp Eng on ERP (Oracle Fusion) optimization and automation across the accounting tech stack.
Lead the external audit, partnering with the external auditor to ensure timely completion of annual audit.
Partner with corporate development to support M A activities.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA certification strongly preferred.
12+ years of experience with an increasing level of scope and leadership responsibility; Big 4 and industry experience preferred.
Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP and other financial reporting requirements.
Demonstrated track record of shortening close cycles and building durable processes — not just operating existing ones.
Experience operating in a SOX-controlled environment is a plus.
